Unlike other decaffeination processes, the Swiss Water process does not rely on any chemicals in any part of the process. The process relies solely on osmosis and solubility to extract caffeine. The green coffee (raw beans) are first washed, increasing their size by up to 100% to ready them for extraction. 

Then they are soaked in a series of containers with a GCE (Green Coffee Extract) that enables removable of the soluble caffeine and reintroduction of all the other coffee solubles, like oils and sugars that make the coffee taste good. The process is repeated until 99.9% of caffeine is removed.

The coffee is carefully selected from the Cerrado region in Brazil, arguably the richest and most biologically diverse savannah in the world before being sent for decaffeination.

The Swiss Water Process is a patented decaffeination process that takes place solely in British Columbia, Canada using fresh mountain water. It is the only plant of its kind that is certified organic, and incorporates social and environmental responsibility as part of its cause.
