Last year’s coffee adventures took us to the counties of Jaen and San Ignacio in Northern Peru, close to the border with Ecuador. There we spent time with local Co-operative Sol & Café and their smallholders. High in the Peruvian mountains, each farmer cultivates up to one hectare of coffee for central processing with the Co-op, where it is carefully selected, sorted and graded ready for shipment to our Roastery.
This Project with Sol & Café has enabled us to work with very small scale coffee farmers, in some of the most rural coffee growing conditions in the world, and to bring their remarkable coffees to our customers. This particular lot is exclusively sourced, in order that we can give back to those farmers who contribute to our specific lot. Our aim is to help these farmers prioritise agricultural activities that are both socially responsible and help to preserve the environment. Always roasted on Bertha, our hand-restored Probat Roaster, to a style that enhances the intense sweetness of this coffee.
